The Kiwanis Club of Washington GA recently celebrated our annual banquet, marking another year of service to our community and welcoming a new group of officers for the 2026–2027 Kiwanis year.
We were honored to have special guests from the WWCHS Key Club join us for the evening: officers Addison Jones, Allison Linares, and Alexandra Sanchez.
The evening also featured wonderful entertainment by Renee Hall, who shared her beautiful singing with us. Guests enjoyed a delicious rib dinner catered by Connie & Bobby Danner, making for a memorable evening of fellowship and celebration.
We were also pleased to welcome Mark Woelzlein, Division 6 Lt. Governor of the Georgia District of Kiwanis, who installed our new officers for the 2026–2027 year.
Congratulations to our new and returning officers:
Debra Guin was installed as our new president and will continue serving in the role of treasurer.
Bob Simmons was reinstalled as club secretary.
Al Lamar, our immediate past president, was recognized and presented with a pin in appreciation for his service and leadership throughout the past year.
A big thank you also goes to Hopkins Funeral Home for allowing us to use their beautifully decorated dining and event space. Their hospitality helped make the evening especially welcoming and enjoyable for everyone in attendance.
We are grateful for everyone who helped make this banquet a special occasion and for all of our members who continue to give their time and talents in service to our community.
We were happy to have one of our 2026 scholarship winners join us for lunch on July 28 to receive her scholarship award.
Sophia Eligio, accompanied by her mother, Barbara, joined us to receive her $1000 scholarship check. Sophia will be continuing her education as she pursues her PhD in Psychology.
We are so proud of Sophia and all she has accomplished. She was the valedictorian of her class and previously served as President of the WWCHS Key Club, demonstrating her commitment to leadership and service in our community.
Congratulations, Sophia! We wish you all the best as you begin this exciting next chapter. We can’t wait to see where your journey takes you!
